To carry out the essential services entrusted to them, London fire personnel must be properly outfitted. Everything from protective helmets to bottled water used by firefighters to combat dehydration, from first aid supplies used at accident scenes to cleaning fluids for keeping fire stations in sparkling condition, is all handled by the Stores Division.
Stores ensures that firefighters and support staff have the equipment to do the job, at the same time keeping tight controls on costs. “Just In Time” purchasing, strict inventory control and in-house repairs are just a few of the methods utilized.
The Stores Division serves as the central shipping and receiving depot for the twelve fire stations in London. Stores communicates with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure that products and materials meet the London Fire Department's stringent specifications and requirements.
In an organization so important to the health and well being of the community, the Stores Division is one of our key elements of success.
