London Fire Services is a multi-faceted organization whose members perform a multitude of tasks. To carry out complex tasks to the highest standard, personnel require extensive training. The Training Division constantly strives to provide up-to-the-minute techniques and procedures with the goal of protecting the citizens of London while at the same time keeping firefighters as safe as possible.

The Training Complex is located at 746 Wellington Road South. It includes a four-storey fire training tower, a two-storey smoke house, two classrooms and a flashover chamber. Flashover is a potentially lethal phenomenon that occurs when combustible materials in a room are superheated to a point where they suddenly catch fire and the entire area is engulfed in flames. The chamber produces the beginning stages of flashover and trainees are taught water spray application to control it.

An efficient, effective fire service must have thorough and ongoing training for all its members. At any time, personnel may have to handle all manner of emergency situations. That spells out the need for widely varied training scenarios including; vehicle extrication, hazardous materials, defibrillator operations, CPR, emergency medical response, first aid, ice and water rescue, technical rescue and command procedures, as well as the latest firefighting techniques.
